Fabric is Meiji, pre 1900 and vest is old too.

Width Across Shoulders 28 inches
Length 30 1/2 inches

Condition:

Very good, there is a small hole near the bottom of the vest, see photo, lining silk has some smudges.

Description:

This is a padded hifu vest, remade from an antique tomesode. The design is handpainted yuzen and so delicate, cherry blossom, pines and mandarin ducks on water, there are embroidered highlights. The kimono will have been damaged but fabric was never wasted and often made into smaller kimono or other garments. A wonderful piece of history, lovely collectors item or for display, perhaps framed.
