Condition:
Good, there is some discolouration, not too noticeable if using as a display item, there are a few holes, these can be seen on the photographs, one on left and right sides mid side seams, one back of right sleeve and a few smaller on bottom of left front collar, mark upper inner lining (see photo), lower back lining has some marks, condition is reflected in the price, this kimono is ideal for display, it is not always suitable to display an antique item in very good condition.
Description:
This is a lovely subtle, tomesode in soft black silk, there are 5 circles for Mon but these have not been applied. The design is ryozuma (mirror image) a scene with pine trees and cranes, in the mist. There are a few tiny hints of gold couching, the design also appears inside the lower, inside lining, upper is cream raw silk. This kimono is over 120 years old and although the condition is not so good, it is a very charming piece and would make a wonderful wallhanging and collectors example of Meiji kimono.
