Men's Kimono
The formal men's haori is usually made of black Habutae silk and is decorated, on the outside, with five mon (family crests). The inner upper lining can have wonderful pictorial decoration, which can be woven, silk screened, or hand painted. Turning the haori inside out can make it into a stunning wall hanging. Less formal haori still have pictorial decoration in the lining but no family crests and they are made of a variety of materials, perhaps wool, raw silk or man made fibre. In this section we have also included other men's garments eg. Hakama, juban (under kimono), or Heko obi (soft obi worn by men usually with shibori decoration)
