This is a lovely piece from the Private Collection of Chris Battye and we are the sole agents. It has been professionally and sympathically restored and is a Kannon Biraki (Isho Dansu) of Keyaki (Elm) construction with Iron fittings and is in two sections. These tansu were made for the Samurai Classes, as clothing chests, and so usually had the family crest (Mon) on the front, in this case the Tsuta (Ivy) Mon Wonderful 19th Century piece for the collector! Delivery is within the UK only.
