Excellent, there is a mend on the reverse, see photo, probably because the material is from an old kimono.
This is a lovely kakejiku, hand made in Japan with pieces of quality vintage and antique, indigo dyed, cotton fabrics. Most of the cottons are kasuri indigo but the two pieces hanging from the scroll, at the top, are made from antique katazome cotton. The kasuri woven design at the scrolls centre is of the male and female Daruma. Daruma is thought to be Bodhidharma (Buddhist monk from 5th/6th Century AD ) and is thought, in Japan, to bring good luck and perseverance. The reverse of the kakejiku is also kasuri indigo fabric. Wonderful for interior display !
