Antique excellent, black colour is good, just a few small marks centre back and faint mark in pattern, see photos. There is a small hole on the back red lining.
This is a lovely tomesode in black medium weight silk with soft touch. There are 5 Paulownia Mon present. The pattern is yuzen dyed and handpainted and is of the Ryzoma type (Mirror Image) popular in this period. There are highlights of embroidery and also gold couching some superfine. The design is traditional florals and Japanese cart associated with the Tale of Genji, it continues inside the lower hem. The upper inner lining is red silk. Wonderful to collect, display or wear!
