Very Good for the age, as with most itajime fabric, there are some pinholes here and there over the body, see photos. The rest of the fabrics are excellent.
This is a lovely silk dounuki from the Taisho Era. The top part and sleeves are made from thin white silk which has been dyed with itajime technique. Thin silk is used as the silk is folded with many layers then clamped between two carved boards (this is the pattern) there are holes in the boards to allow dye to be poured in and so the pattern is formed. The lower part of the kimono and inside lower lining is lovely rinzu silk with cherry blossom and bamboo design. The upper lining is red silk. Wonderful to collect !
