Very Good for the age, these Meiji kimono are getting much harder to find in Japan. There is slight discolouration as can be seen on the photographs. There is a large faint mark right bottom, near side seam, front and back, see photos. There is a small hole near the bottom of the red lining, see photo, the lighter patches are just reflections from the camera, not thinning of the fabric.
This is a lovely purple/mauve coloured uchikake in rinzu silk. The design is hand painted cranes and seashore with tiny highlights of embroidery. There are 5 Mon (family crests) present, the Mokko (Melon) Mon belonging to Ikuta, Kuno, Murayama and Sawai families. The bottom of the kimono is padded and the lining is naturally dyed, red silk. Wonderful collector's item !
